Support services in Geneva
In a life-threatening emergency, call 144 for an ambulance or 117 for the police. The adult emergency department at the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG) is open around the clock for anyone aged 16 or over. Psychiatric admissions at l'Aubier also receive people day and night. For non-urgent medical worries, the free Centrale Santé Genève line (0800 116 117) assesses your symptoms 24 hours a day.
If you need to talk, La Main Tendue answers on 143 and runs an English-language line every evening from 18:00 to 23:00 on 0800 143 000. Victims of violence can call 142 at any time.
For intimate partner violence, AVVEC holds a weekly drop-in session with no appointment needed. Most other services are in French and work by appointment, so phone first and ask whether an interpreter can join.
