You can book a 50-minute online counselling session with me using the calendar below. Choose a time that suits you, including evenings in UK time, pay securely online, and you'll receive a confirmation with the details for our video session. Sessions cost £45, charged in pounds, and are in English. I'm a trainee counsellor and BACP student member, working under supervision.

What happens when you book

  1. Pick a time in the calendar. It shows times in your own time zone.
  2. Add your name, your email and any details the form asks for.
  3. Pay online. If you'd rather pay by bank transfer, see fees and payment.
  4. You'll receive a confirmation email with the link for our session.

If you'd like to meet in person in Shrewsbury instead, please email me or mention it when you book.

Evening sessions and time zones

Evening sessions are available in UK time. That can help if you work during the day, or if you live abroad and need a time after work in your own time zone. The calendar shows every open slot converted to where you are, so you don't have to do the maths.

For most of continental Western Europe, a UK evening session falls one hour later for you. If you live further away, check the time zone shown on the calendar before you confirm. If nothing fits, email me and I'll tell you what is coming up.

The first session

Our first session is a full 50-minute session at the usual fee, and a chance to meet and see whether we can work well together. It isn't an assessment of your symptoms. You can tell me what brings you here, what life has been like lately, and what you hope for, as much or as little as you want. You don't have to know what to say. Many people start from a vague feeling, and that is a perfectly good place to begin. You can read more about what to expect in your first counselling session, how I work and person-centred counselling.

What to have ready

  • A private space where you won't be overheard
  • A stable internet connection, ideally on a laptop or tablet
  • Headphones, if you share your home
  • A glass of water, and perhaps tissues

If you share a flat or a family home, it can help to tell people you need the room for an hour, or to sit in a parked car or a quiet corner at work. My guide on whether online counselling is confidential explains how privacy works in video sessions.

If the calendar doesn't load or you have any trouble, email hello@michellefernando.com or use the contact page. Booking isn't a way to get urgent help. If you need support now, the helplines directory lists free crisis lines by country.

Questions people ask

What happens after I book?

You'll receive a confirmation email from the booking system with the date, the time in your time zone and the details for joining our video session. If you want to change the time, use the link in that email or write to hello@michellefernando.com, ideally at least 48 hours before the session.

Do I need to prepare anything for the first session?

Not really. You don't need a plan or a perfect opening line. It helps to have a private, quiet space, a reliable internet connection and headphones if others are nearby. If there is something you would like me to know beforehand, you can email me, but that's entirely optional.

Do you have evening sessions?

Yes. Evening sessions are available in UK time. If you live elsewhere, the calendar converts open times into your own time zone, so you can see what fits around work or family. For most of continental Western Europe, a UK evening session falls one hour later for you. If nothing suits, email me and I'll tell you what is coming up.

Can I ask questions before I book?

Yes. If you'd like to ask something first, such as about concessions, in-person sessions in Shrewsbury or whether my way of working suits what you're going through, email hello@michellefernando.com. I aim to reply within 48 hours. There is no obligation to book afterwards.

Can I book an online counselling session from outside the UK?

Yes. Sessions take place by secure video from the UK, so you can book from wherever you live, and the calendar shows times in your own time zone. This is private counselling with a UK-based trainee counsellor, so it sits outside the health system in your country. The fee is £45 per session, charged in pounds, and your bank converts it.

What if I need to cancel or move my session?

Please give at least 48 hours' notice. You can move or cancel through the link in your confirmation email, or by writing to hello@michellefernando.com. Because the time is reserved only for you, sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice may be charged the full fee of £45. If something unexpected comes up, tell me as soon as you can.
