Contact Michelle Fernando
Questions before you book are welcome. I aim to reply within 48 hours.
The simplest way to reach me is by email at hello@michellefernando.com. I aim to reply within 48 hours. I'm based in Shrewsbury, UK, and Rajagiriya, Colombo, Sri Lanka, and most sessions take place online by secure video in English. If you already know you'd like to start, you can book a session straight away.
How to contact me by email
Email: hello@michellefernando.com
I read and answer every email myself, usually within 48 hours. You can write to ask a question, ask about a concession place, arrange an in-person session in Shrewsbury, or ask about evening times. If you're ready to choose a time, the booking page shows open slots in your own time zone, including evenings in UK time.
Where I'm based
- Shrewsbury, Shropshire (UK): online, and in person by arrangement
- Rajagiriya, Colombo (Sri Lanka): online
Wherever you live, we can meet online. Sessions are delivered from the UK, so they are private counselling and not part of the healthcare system in your country. I'm a trainee counsellor and BACP student member, working under supervision. If you live in Europe, the English-speaking counsellor pages explain time zones and local support country by country.
Before you write
You don't need to explain everything. A short note saying you're looking for support is enough, and we can talk about the rest when we meet. If you have questions about fees and concessions or how sessions work, feel free to ask those too.
Email isn't fully secure, so you may prefer to keep the most personal details for our first session. My privacy policy explains how I handle what you send.
If you need help urgently
I can't respond to emergencies by email. If you are in immediate danger, call 999 in the UK or 112 across the EU, or go to your nearest emergency department. In the UK you can call Samaritans free on 116 123, at any time of day or night. If you live elsewhere, please contact your local emergency number. The UK helplines page and the helplines directory list free, checked crisis lines by country.
Questions people ask
How quickly will you reply?
I aim to reply to every email within 48 hours, and I read each one myself. Email is not a crisis service, though. If you are struggling and need support sooner, please don't wait for my reply. Contact Samaritans on 116 123 in the UK, or your local emergency number.
What should I write in my first email?
As much or as little as you like. A single line saying you're looking for support is enough. You might mention whether you'd prefer online or in-person sessions, roughly which time zone you live in, and whether you'd like to ask about a concession place. Anything more personal can wait until we meet.
Is my email confidential?
Yes. I read your email myself and don't share it with anyone, apart from the rare legal and safety exceptions described in my privacy policy. Email is not fully secure in transit, so you may prefer to keep sensitive details for our session. You can read how I store and delete enquiries in the privacy policy.
Can I ask about fees or a concession place before booking?
Yes. Sessions are £45 for 50 minutes, charged in pounds, and I keep a limited number of lower-cost places for students, trainees and people on a low income. You don't need to send proof. A short email saying you'd like to ask about a concession place is enough, and I'll tell you what is available when I reply.
Can I contact you if I live outside the UK?
Yes. Sessions are delivered from the UK by secure video in English, with evening times in UK time. Because I'm a UK-based trainee counsellor, this is private counselling and not part of the healthcare system where you live. You're welcome to email from anywhere.
